A meeting at work

What we do

Sussex_web.jpgBased within the University’s School of Business, Management and Economics, this CWL project is developing short, modular courses which can be accredited as part of a professional portfolio. These courses potentially contribute to a higher education qualification at either postgraduate (Masters) or undergraduate level. Modules are currently available in a range of fields including Arts and Cultural Management, Community Development, Archaeology and Lifelong Learning. We can also work with your business to develop and deliver bespoke courses to meet a particular development need.

Our new MBA launches in January 2011. It provides courses on corporate risk management,  entrepreneurship, international finance and management and innovation management. The three year programme is taught by world renowned faculty and delivered in a modular format to meet the demands faced by the busy professional.

Does it work?

Our connections and close working relationships to the business community are a key feature of our  strategic planning and ensure that our programmes are tailored to meet current and future employer demands. We work with a broad range of employers from international and national businesses such as American Express, the Royal Mail and the NHS, through to small and medium enterprises. We have also developed an extensive range of courses with the community and voluntary sector.

“We have access to research and innovation facilities, which our graduates and other employees can leverage and bring to the workplace. This complements the American Express innovation culture and brings together academia and industry, a partnership that is not always considered viable… we have worked very closely with Sussex from the start, planning the course content so that we can tailor it to the needs of the business. Sussex staff have always been receptive to incorporating our suggestions and changes.”

Nigel Greenwood, Vice President of Technologies, American Express
