The Company MBA
A concept unique to Sussex, this element has been specially designed for the small business who wishes to spread knowledge and expertise across their company, and may not be able to afford to spare a 'whole' person for the entire MBA. To meet this need, the Sussex MBA offers the capacity for enrolment on a module by module basis meaning that multiple employees can benefit from and utilise the programme learning. This approach also enables flexibility with regards the timing and sequence with which individual modules are studied. It won't be possible to award an MBA qualification to the company itself, however those employees taking modules will earn credits towards an individual MBA (should they wish to pursue subsequently), valid for up to five years. Click here for further information or contact Claire Brennan on 01273 678 042.
Masters in Business Administration
The MBA from Sussex has a highly flexible, modular structure, designed to accommodate the needs of participants who are balancing career, home-life and other commitments. There is an opportunity to develop critical business skills, with a particular emphasis on the development of transformational skills alongside the more traditional management and leadership areas. The course has a distinctively "Sussex" course content. Innovation and entrepreneurship sit at its heart, while social responsibility and ethical practice are themes running throughout. A key feature is its blended learning format, incorporating on-campus teaching blocks, group work, web-supported independent study and expert-led sessions. MSc in Management Practice
The MSc Management Practice helps businesses develop their managers to utilise their different degrees of experience and their roles in the workplace to foster specific skills, learning and competencies that will contribute to their work and productivity. The flexibility of this programme enables participants to study their processes, activities and tasks within their workplace, to evaluate the impact of their work and to explore the potential for development and improvement. By making use of the latest research on management thinking, the modules in this programme aim to foster a critical awareness about the factors that contribute to the management process. The combination between theory and practice becomes a critical opportunity through which the programme seeks to further develop managers at various points in their career. Graduate Certificate in Management
Our experience indicates that employers do not want off-the-peg solutions. Instead many employers are undertaking a training need analysis and seeking providers who can meet their specifications. This programme is suitable for first level team managers or supervisors or those with work experience aspiring to a first level management role or those who may be senior specialists in organisations who wish to broaden their knowledge of management. It would also be suitable for managers who have not come through formal university education and who wish to learn about management and to gain graduate-level skills perhaps with a view to proceeding to further management qualifications. More specifically the award is targeted at employers wishing to develop in-house programmes modelled around a full training needs assessment for their management and supervisory level employees. The award can be tailored to meet the individual requirements of organisations. The Graduate Certificate offers learners two choices: the achievement of the Chartered Manager Diploma combined with the Graduate Certificate or the opportunity to obtain a Graduate Certificate comprising Effective Management in Context with a wide choice of other relevant modules.
